octoberfestavalidetox

Octoberfestavali celebrations have gotten me eating and drinking and drinking and eating and drinking..

Don't get me wrong.. I love the occasional piss-up session as well as regular binges.. but in the light of day, those size 4 jeans still need getting into so, back to gym and all that jazz.. haha...

As part of the detox process, I have resorted to having heavy breakfast and lunch, but feather light dinners.

Last night after the gym, we hit rumours for some salad.

DSC00078
Hmmm .. the place was strangely deserted..
DSC00059 DSC00060
For starters the seafood soup and the aubergine soup. The Seafood soup was rubbish - weak, thin and tasteless and most shockingly, prawns and fish that tasted like refrigerator. Not impressed.

The aubergine soups was good ( I think anything you add that amount of cream to, should taste good anyway).
DSC00068

Caesar salad - small portion and not very interesting. The taste was average.

DSC00070

Avocado salmon and cheese baked oysters. Yums! This I liked. No complaints here.

That concluded dinner. To make up for a (fairly) healthy dinner, we decided to have some dessert.

DSC00080

Cheese cake at Backofen.

DSC00089

Another average cake. Come to think of it, since we were so near, we should have driven to damansara heights to a certain someone's house for cake instead la ;P

This is the reason why I hate detox/salad night. It's so boring.

Tomorrow, it's Charsiew-Siewyoke Night... (it's only fair!! :P)

Bonda Lemang

DSC00037

We were driving around (yet again).. and got lost somewhere in the heart of Kampung Melayu Subang...

DSC09889

The nice thing about getting lost is that sometimes, you see some pretty interesting things.

Like this Bonda Lemang for example. It just popped out of no where..

DSC09885

We stopped to buy the nice, hot , steamy, fresh lemang from the Bonda.

DSC09887

I wanted to eat it on the spot because I was so hungry, but apparently, we were still looking for our lunch destination.. so, the lemang had to wait!

DSC09906

Ah.. finally we get to the location we are looking for.. Bandar Pinggiran Subang.. the funny thing about this area is that though it is called 'subang', it is under the Shah Alam Postcode.

DSC00038

We see Restoran Sin Seng Leh and park.

DSC00040

We heard that this place served up the spinach wantan noodle and we just had to try it.

DSC00041

We ordered one normal Charsiew Wantan Mee, (RM3.80 small)

DSC00046

DSC00045

...and one spinach Wantan Mee. (RM4.50 large)
The thing i liked most about the spinach wantan mee was the sauce that came it. The clear sauce was sweet and tasty. It makes a change from the black wantan mee sauce.

The spinach noodle did not disappoint. It was soft and springy whilst a little more starchy than the normal noodle. It tasted 'greener', so to speak.

DSC00053

When we had finished paying the bill, we saw Chua Soi Lek on the way out... (don't you think the resemblance is uncanny?!)

Seeing red

DSC09864

DSC09866

At Chicken Cuizine,
They wear Yellow T-shirts , drive Yellow Getz cars and sport Red hair.. ;)

DSC09845

We were in Shah Alam visiting a friend and were told to go to Chicken Cuizine for some Hakka Mee.

Incidentally they run a catering business here too.

DSC09851

Here it is . The Hakka Noodles - pretty tasty with crunchy Wantan. RM4.00

DSC09852

Hubby asked for the famous curry mee sauce ( this curry does not come with the hakka mee) so that he could try out the taste. Adding it to the hakka noodles was a bit weird, but the taste was really not bad!

DSC09850

DSC09849

This is the pork noodle dish that I had at RM4.00.. not very impressive but edible. Next time, we plan to go next door...

SAGE. The art of card making... paper, glue, crayons and lots of love

DSC09913

The 22nd of October... the day you came screaming and kicking into the world... you haven't stopped talking since:P

DSC00023

I make you a card.. because I am creative (and too lazy to buy one from the shop)!

DSC00008

You read the card and smile.. (OK la, I'm no poet but you get the gist of it.. lol)

DSC09921 DSC09935 DSC09936 DSC09944 DSC09946 DSC09954

We read about this place from Lemongrass and since we have always liked Cilantro (driving past micasa a few weeks ago, the whole place is still closed for renovations), we decided we just could not pass up a chance at trying Chef Kimura's cooking!

We opted for the Sage-Set because it was much more worth it than going ala-carte.

We start to eat.

You find the 'Extra Large Scallop with Slow Roasted Beet root and Kabu' appetizer a little over-cooked.. I find my 'Feuillete of Anago with Foie Gras and Artichoke Puree' starter delicious..

Both Appetizers are priced at RM58 nett each.

For mains I order the 'Rump Steak with Carrot Puree and Anchovy Sauce' and you have the 'Roasted Lamb Rack with Merguese and Piment'. The steak was excellent - the nice and unusual thing about this steak is that they serve you two types of beef. One is the actual steak medallions, medium rare and the second is the braised ox shank with the carrot puree. Excellent texture and taste. The lamb was gamy and a little on the fatty side. You noticed that you were served only ONE piece of a tiny lamb rack, and 1/4 of it was fat! Luckily my portion was huge, so you helped me with my steak.

Both Main Courses are priced at RM78 nett each.

DSC09956

You, sharing your lamb with me, what little you had.. aww... so sweet...

We eat, chat, linger, snap photos, laugh and eat some more.

After about an hour ,we are done.

DSC00029 DSC00030

For dessert, you have the 'Almond Blanc Manger with Mango Sorbet and Passion Fruit' and I have the 'Calvados Flambe of Apple with Almond Crumble and Vanilla ice-cream'.

Both were equally good but the Almond Manger stole the show. According to you, this was one of the best desserts you have tried in a while. The texture of the Manger was silky smooth and superbly creamy. This richness was nicely tempered with the tangy sourish sorbet and passion fruit.

Both desserts are priced at RM30 nett each.

DSC00014

We finish our food and take a breather. Out of the corner of your eye, you see the waiter walking over. You look quizzically at me. I grin back.

DSC00012

Haha... SURPRISE! Make a wish!

We eat the complimentary cake courtesy of Chef Takashi Kimura and call it a night..

Of course, the other birthday present is all wrapped up waiting at home for you, but you don't know that just yet;)

XOXO,

Ciki

Ribb-it... Ribb-it...

DSC00019

A frog telephoned the Psychic Hotline and was told, "You are going to
meet a beautiful young woman who will want to know everything about
you." The frog said, "That's great! Will I meet her at a party, or
what?" "No," said the psychic, "Next term, in her biology class.
"

TeeHeehee :D

DSC00018
In this case... you will meet her - at Klang Palace Restaurant, over Dimsum!
(Oh.. how cruel.. what to do... I am Chinese - I eat almost everything with its back to the sun):P

centrobuilding
We read about this place via Julian Si's blog.
Since we were going to be in Klang that fine afternoon, we decided to swing by and check out the Dimsum at Klang Palace, Centro Mall.

DSC00029DSC00022
DSC00023DSC00028

We were early, so the place was relatively empty and service was fast.
Jules was right. Some of the dimsum was fair.. but some of it was EXCELLENT!

DSC00032
The Loh Mai Kai was really delicious. Not too wet/overly greasy like some places do it - the rice is sticky(but not drenched) and succulent with flavour. They were generous with their Lio (ingredients) too, which was nice.
DSC00024
This was my favourite of the day. The Pei Tan Sau Yoke Chok! (Century egg with pork strips porridge). The porridge is thick and sweet(I hate runny, thin porridge, unless it is meant to be runny and thin like the Teow Chew Moi/Chok) and again bursting with Lio (ingredients).
The crispy Yau Char Kwai on top really is the icing on the cake. Every mouthful was "Century egg/YauCharKwai/Pork Meat/Spring Onion" rapture! Very, Very good.

Total Bill - RM57.40 for 2 persons
