Never too prawny

Based on past blogger's comments and feedbacks on my blog on Tiger Jit Singh Chapati, I decided to heed their advice and check out the Har Mee/Lam Mee stall just a few blocks away. Thanks for the tips, food bloggers :)

They were right! As we approached the place.. the smell of Har Mee hung thick in the air!

We were pretty excited to try out the noodles...

First the Lam mee... at RM4.50 per bowl, it was thick and sweet.. but a little on the starchy side. The chicken tasted excellent, but the soup stock was just a little salty with not much taste... Good thing the succulence from the "pak cham kai" (white chicken) made up for it.

That's mine! I decided on the har mee and prepared for the moment of truth.

This bowl is not cheap i tell ya... the price for large prawn and additional ingredients (Kar-liew) is ... RM10.50 ! Wow... this better be good.

Again the chicken was great! Unusual that they serve chicken with har mee.. but very effective. The sweetness of the white meat came through for this bowl of noodles. Unfortunately the soup was just salty and lacked any "prawny" taste.. To me.. the prawniness of the Har Mee is the make or break factor.. Har Mee can never be too prawny!

Oh well.. at least the LIAO was sweet and filling... however, the soup still leaves a lot to be desired.

The home-made chilli was hot and good! No complaints there!

All in all a good choice if you are looking for a quick roadside hawker, with loadsa "old world KL" feel :)

Lunch for CHAMPionS!

We love Champs, we do! It's our favourite lunchtime venue because it is so close to work!

But that's not the only reason we love it.


We love it because we are SIZE QUEENs.

That's right.. because bigger is (always)better.. and it doesn't get any bigger than THIS... lol :P

I mean just look at the size of the prawns!

The owner's philosophy is either do it BIG or don't do it at all...! (Kinda like him.. lol)

Anyway, what that means, is that while the food, classified as Hawker cuizine, i.e. Har Mee, Char Kwey Teow etc... is not cheap, it certainly is value for money....

...because the bowl is HUGE and packed to the gills with "LIAO" (the good stuff.. the meat!)

Totally non-halal... totally killer delicious...

but don't take OUR word for it... we dare you to FINISH the entire bowl .. and not fall asleep at the desk!

Just the other day, I had this conversation with a friend. Apparently my friend has a friend who is a Paediatrician.

The Paeds told her that, " you know hor ... now a days ah .. kids are like getting damn obese... not like last time..." .

My friend was like, "huh? Like how do kids get damn obese la.. ".

The Paeds was like .. " U know hor... they eat maggie mee... snacks.. fast food... etc etc... ".

My friend was like " Maggie Mee?? Like how many calories is that la... " (thinking to herself like .. common... maggie mee.. ?!! Malaysian's staple fill in snack/diet ..?)


"400 calories."

(my friend looks stupefied )

Anyway... this blog is about a wonderful, powerful, killer yummie freeze dried meal in a packet..

The latest prawn mee is killer sensational!!!

None of that faux nutritious, good for the heart advertising...

You know its not nutritious. Its not good for the heart.

But its bloody tasty!

IT has like FIVE packets of stuff for you to add to the noodle soup stock.. vs. the maggie mee's ONE! 5X more un-nutritious.. but 5X more yummie !

Ibumee Har Mee is like .. beyond...

Go try it and tell me it ain't so...
