Carcass lovers

My colleague is a vegetarian. She is often the butt of much ridicule - what to do.. they are picky eaters, high maintenance, self-righteous, overly sensitive... "Ee-yew...oh,i couldn't eat that... it's like... a CARCASS..!"

But vegetarians should rejoice in the good company they keep (well, except for Hitler). Here is a list of just some of the most famous vegetarians in history.

1. Leo Tolstoy: The famous Russian writer wrote several essays on the benefits of vegetarianism. You can read one here.

2. Voltaire

3. Adolf Hitler: Hitler practiced a vegetarianism created by Richard Wagner, which equated the future of Germany’s success with abstaining from meat.

4. Albert Einstein

5. Clint Eastwood: As a long-time animal rights activist, Eastwood has also been very outspoken against hunting and killing animals for sport.

6. Leonardo Da Vinci: Da Vinci used to buy caged birds from vendors at the market in order to set them free.

7. The Beatles

8. Dr. Dre

9. Buddha

10. Pythagoras: As well as giving us the Pythagorean theorem, Pythagoras gave us the Pythagoras diet, which laid the foundation for modern vegetarianism.

Poll:
Would you become a vegetarian, if not one already :) Leave a comment. Cheers

After all... we are what we eat... (oh, shuttup you grapefruit..:P)

My dear, you do realize that after reading your blog post there's a KFC Chicken Chop ad that says "Don't waste one drop", right? LOL

I know it's accidental, but it sorta influenced my answer, which is: "I'd love to, but probably not."

One Carcass Chop, please! :D

I'd never become a full time vegetarian. but the lure of cleansing the body once in a while, and purify the mind (??) by eating vege somehow sounds fine. probably once a week ...

since you brought this subject up here's how I see it.

Lions eat only meat. cows only grass. yet both are big and strong. of course both also make loud noises. one moo one roar.

thats about the subject of vegetarian ( but then again who is a vegetarian because (s)he couldn't eat meat , unless (s)he's a cowbull ?)

j2kfm:
partial vegetarian/selective vegetarian - for detox... good one

bsg:
so.. let me see.. if we eat the cow, that makes the noise, that eats the grass... that makes us... indirectly ... vegetarian! rite?! i like the way ur mind works!

This is my poem promoting the vegan lifestyle.
The thought of eating flesh, to many, is just vile.

We treat animals as though they were commodities.
It’s the humans here who appear to be oddities.

A plant-based diet is what we should eat.
The flesh-eating lifestyle is now obsolete.

The wrong food choices put a strain on our environment.
It is leading to our own endangerment.

Are we all crazy? Are we insane?
When we destroy the earth, then who will we blame?

Are we in time? Is it too late?
Have we committed ourselves? Is the damage too great?

no.. it's not too late.. mother earth needs our help... i implore u readers..
choose life! go green!

i have to agree with prof bean... Scientists and naturalists, including the great Charles Darwin who gave the theory of evolution, agree that early humans were fruit and vegetable eaters and that throughout history our anatomy has not changed. The great Swedish scientist von Linné states: "Man's structure, external and internal, compared with that of the other animals, shows that fruit and succulent vegetables constitute his natural food."
I would not & have not eaten meat for the past 12 years and feel better for it. Your body will tell you the truth - listen to it!

I like vege. Eat them all the time and plenty of it. The same with meat but in moderation. My son's love meat and eat plenty of them but he eats plenty of vege too. He will fight for the broccoli, cauliflower or spinach on the plate. And this is the layman speaking.

Wow blogspot is open in China again! Woo hooo! Better make the most of it while i can.. actually I think I COULD be vegetarian as I don't eat much meat anyway.. but if you tell me I can't eat meat then I am sure I will start craving for some. However i think the amount of meat I actually eat hardly impacts the environment, and I am trying to make my daughter more vegetarian too - heh heh don't let the pork/beef/lamb eating father know...

I was actually vegetarian by choice for a good 5 years before I woke up one day with a massive hangover and decided to hell with it, I want me some fried chicken! Truth is, I felt better when I wasn't consuming meat but once the carnivore within is unlocked, there's just no going back...

As for me, I have always practiced having balance diets. Although I love to have vegetable related dishes more often, I have a bunch of people over here who detest having too many vegetables in any of the dishes I cook. In the end, I fed them with more potatoes.

Hmmm.. now I know why most of them have gone lazy. They have turned into potato couches.. sweat~~
