the "indie rock" effect...
There's an old maxim out there that goes something like this - whenever someone asks you for your favourite places to eat, you never state your absolute favourite. The idea here is that you don't want the place to lose whatever nuances it may have due to increased popularity (haha!). Kinda like how, when an indie band goes mainstream, it either loses all /loses some aspect of it's old self that makes the experience different all together. Less "WOW" if you know what i mean.

Steak and frites...perfect medium rare steak, tender and flavorful, perfect frites...crisp and delicous. For dessert, La Vie en Rose - an amalgamation of rose gelée, rose glacé, strawberries, and cream. it's flavors so delicate and yet pronounced. It cames to the table with a pink meringue pig floating atop it's billows of cream
Traditional Scottish Breakfast! i.e. sausage, black pudding, haggis, mushroom, tomato served with potato scones fried in the fat from the sausages and black pudding...! then you can hang me ! lol
Seafood feast la! Lobster, crab... lots of garlic, chilli.. scallop ! Beer or STOUT to wash it down. If I am drunk... i won't feel anything after that !
for the last meal, it doesnt matter anymore. it's whom i dine with that's more important. even a pack of asam laksa flavour maggie mee will taste like a million bucks.

seafood and booze lends courage to the faint HEARTED! lol
Mine would be a fab smorgasboard of Thai, Italian, Japanese, Tex-Mex, mom's cooking and everything in between! Starters would be Som Tum from the streets of Bangkok, bruschetta, Manhattan seafood chowder, Bluff oysters. Mains would be sushi, BBQ pork ribs, Penang Char Koay Teow, seafood paella... oh what's the point, trying to list all this is futile.
BTW, there's a gorgeous picture-heavy coffee table book out by Melanie Dunea called "My Last Supper" which asks famous chefs around the world the same question. Still trying to get a copy!
What lah - going to die already - BRING me all the high calorie fatty foods & lots of carbs which I have been avoiding for donkey years.
